There are 56 beautiful women winging their way here from all over the country for the pageant, titled Beauty With A Purpose.
What purpose, you ask? Among other things, each young woman will be responsible for a goodwill project because the contestants work to raise money for The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Contestants are evaluated not just on their beauty and physical competencies, but are also looked at regarding their education, goals and acts of goodwill and involvement in their communities. Future leaders will be amongst this promising 2018 group.
The competition is on July 28 and takes place at the Lyric Theatre, Toronto Centre for the Arts. The winner — yes, she gets a crown — will go on to compete in the Miss World 2018 competition in Sanya, China.
Melani Chong & her company MC2Beauty have been committed to supporting Canadian youth programs, especially of young women who seek to further their education despite adverse circumstances through the Massey Centre for Women. (www.massey.ca)
