NeuroCosmetics And How They Can Function For Our Skin

We All Experience Cosmetic Functions - Whether we are aware or not, we experience functional processes through our skin.

The Science of Cosmetic Functions

Cosmetic Science is the science that delves into the mechanisms of action of cosmetics and their effects on human skin. This field aims to formulate products that restore normal skin balance, preventing or neutralizing the onset of any imperfections. It's important to understand that physiological balance is a dynamic state where metamorphic processes continuously occur under dynamic equilibrium.

 Skin as a Dynamic System

When examining the skin, it should be considered a system where various biochemical responses ensure the survival of cells and tissues. Under normal conditions, these responses are in equilibrium. However, certain situations can disrupt this balance, leading to changes in pH, water content, or the composition of the hydrophilic film on the skin.

Restoring Balance with Cosmetics

Generally, the body can restore its normal physiological conditions, but in some cases, imbalances worsen, leading to imperfections or pathologies. In such instances, cosmetic treatments can be valuable tools for improving skin conditions like acne. Cosmetics should protect the skin, keeping it in good condition and performing preventative actions without making therapeutic claims.

Categories of Cosmetic Functions

Cosmetic products can be classified into three main categories based on their functions:

  1. Skincare: Defensive and nutritional functions aimed at preserving the skin's physiological and functional characteristics.
  2. Makeup: Aesthetic and ornamental functions.
  3. Toiletries: Aseptic and cleansing functions.

Mixed Functions in Modern Cosmetic Science

Modern cosmetology often formulates products with mixed functions, blurring the lines between these categories. The invention of BB and CC creams, unisex products that offer similar but different functions for the specific needs of men and women's skins has risen in the marketplace. A holistic approach emphasizes the importance of both beauty and skin health, aiming to prevent skin impairments, imperfections and to repair and avoid unwanted skin conditions. With the emergence of this class  of neuro cosmetics we can now see a clear pathway to the enhancing of our mental health through the cognitive messages we practice through the relationship we have with our skin.

 Key Actions of Functional Cosmetics

- Soothing, Anti-Redness: Ingredients that soothe pain and reduce redness in cases of mild inflammation, bringing relief to stressed skin.

- Regenerating: Ingredients that promote cell rejuvenation and provide essential elements for skin development and maintenance.

- Toning and Lifting: Ingredients that restore skin tone and firmness, encouraging youthful and healthy skin.

In conclusion, the science of cosmetic functions reveals that whether consciously or not, we all experience the effects of functional processes through our skin. By understanding skin as a dynamic system in constant need of balance, cosmetic science plays a vital role in maintaining and restoring this equilibrium. From skincare to makeup, and toiletries, each category of cosmetic products serves essential functions that protect, nourish, and enhance the skin. As modern cosmetic formulations continue to evolve, their holistic approach not only addresses beauty but also contributes significantly to overall skin health, ensuring that our skin remains resilient and radiant.
